Helping Zach

A friend of mine, Zach Christy, reached out to me for help on his personal project. He explained he was having a blocker and couldnt figure out what to do next. I talked with him for an hour, asking questions, and better understanding the goal. We came up with this list of needs for a very crude MVP version of the application

And thus, with this we knew what we need. I was driving the discussion, asking follow up questions and gaining clarification on the details. Now that we have an idea of what needs to be present we can start on a VERY rudimentary version of the application. We created this quick mockup to represent that version.

I have been asked if id be willing to participate in the project and I am, but only as a contributor. I dont want to be tied to this thing where I would let people down if the opportunity presented itself.. I will now notify zach of this and set some guidelines for my contributions

Helping guy on discord

A guy on discord wanted to get out of his windows ecosystem. I suggested Arch Linux if he wanted to be a true “Alpha Chad”. He was all on board but hes never done something like this before. I supported it but there wasnt much I could do to help him. You may ask, “why arch linux then?”. Well, for starters:

  1. alpha chad status

  2. its challenging and thats the fun in it

He was given other options by other members but he was all for arch for the challenge. I admire that because its absolutely something I would also do myself.

He started clearing out his windows PC of all the junk he had. I was sitting there, wandering how I can help. Remembering that I had a pc thats just sitting around collecting dust, I said: “dude I have a pc ill do one as well”.. He was excited.. I found the ISO, I found the drive formatter (belena etcher). Then I went to town, at the same pace as him. He went the ubuntu route, and I went the kde plasma route.

After hours of working on it, it was now around 3-4 AM, and we both entered our GUIs almost at the same time. I was first ofcourse as I had more experience but he wasnt far behind.

It was a very nice and humbling experience
