# Foundation Building
These are the details of how to ... or how i will ... design and build the foundation of the house.
So far I've found two styles that I like:
1) [# Build A 12'x20' Modern Shed and Deck by Yourself: With Material List](https://youtu.be/J7ljCMW8Bec)
2) [Building a Remote Off Grid Cabin in the woods...Deep Dive commentary - YouTube](https://youtu.be/rmNoDi7mZyM)
## Building connection to ground
Its important that the building is anchored to the ground to some capacity.
### Option 1
with this option, we can build some small concrete pillers.. The upside to this is, I only need to dig about 3-4 inches into the ground.. The downside is, I need to mix the concrete, and ensure it cures properly with the proper hardware embedded in it
### Option 2
with this option, we can use treated ground contact 6x6 posts.. The upside is, no mixing, no waiting, and no hardware stuff.. The downside, I have to dig about a 3 foot hole 4 times
## Building the frame
### Material List
| amount | length | dimensions | name|
|---------|-------|-------------|-----|
| 2 | 20' | 4"x10" | board |
| 16 | 16' | 2"x10"| board |
| 1 | 6mil | 20'x15' | plastic sheet |
| 8 | 3/4" | 4'x8' | plywood |
### Option 1
placing the 4x10 boards in the hardware attached to the pillars, and the 2x10s perpidicular attached to those.
Before installing floor joists.. Attached joist hangers - using a dummy piece to messure distance from top of beam at 16" on center - using deck screws.. about 28 hangers
> [!NOTE]
> Its best to predrill holes, makes for easier insertion
After adding the floor joists, add a 6mil sheet of plastic for the vapor barrier *Would probably be easier to add before floor joists*
Use 3/4" pressure treated plywood for floor - staggered ofcourse
I actually want to insulate the floor as well so we need to drill in some 2x2 boards along the inside of the joists to lay some insulation **Stolen from option 2**
### Option 2

## Building back wall
### Material list
| amount | length | dimensions | name|
|---------|-------|-------------|-----|
| 3 | 20' | 2"x4" | board |
| 18 | 8' | 2"x4"| board |
### Option 1
build with 16" on center for vertical 2x4 boards. Adding a second top plate but leave a 3-1/2" gap on each side for the side walls to attach to.
## Building side wall
### Material list
| amount | length | dimensions | name|
|---------|-------|-------------|-----|
| 3 | 16' | 2"x4" | board |
| 10 | 8' | 2"x4"| board |
### Option 1
build with 16" on center for vertical 2x4 boards. Adding a second top plate but leave a 3-1/2" gap on the side that will connect to the back wall for interlocking
## Building front wall
### Material list
| amount | length | dimensions | name|
|---------|-------|-------------|-----|
| 2 | 20' | 2"x4" | board |
| 4 | 10' | 2"x4"| board |
| 18 | 8' | 2"x4" | board |
| 2 | 20' | 2"x6" | board |
| 1 | 8' | 2"x6" | board
### Option 1
TBD
## Building last wall
### Material list
| amount | length | dimensions | name|
|---------|-------|-------------|-----|
| 2 | 12' | 2"x4" | board |
| 12 | 8' | 2"x4" | board |
| 1 | 8' | 2"x6" | board
### Option 1
TBD
## Building the roof
### Material List
28 rafter ties
18 2"x8" 16' rafters
2 2"x8" 16' rafter nubbins
12 1/2" 4'x8' plywood
### Option 1
ties placed 16" on center
Using a 5/8" piece of board of something, put rafter up on location and cut the bird box out of the board, using this one as a template for the rest
use the cut out piece to get the angle of the end cut angle... easy
